When your cat kneads with thier paws it is a sign of contentment. This is thought to be from when wild cats would knead an area to make a comfortable to place to sleep or from kitten behavior to stimulate their mother's milk production.

When a cat rolls over to expose it's belly to you this is the ultimate sign of trust. Animals do not like to expose their bellys an by doing this they are telling you they have comlete trust in you.

Your cat may rub noses or cheeks with you. They are showing you affection towards you.

When a cat gets in low to the ground ( an also usually display a twitching tail ). Look out they are getting ready to pounce. This can be two fold. It can be an act of playfulness or sometimes the cat can be aggravated an it means to back off. Learning your cats behavior will go along way in determing whcih one your cat is displaying.

Many people are at lost an assume the cat just is using the furniture to maintain their claws in addition to the scratching post ( this habit can be broken by using a spray bottle with water or shaking a can full of coins ). However the cat may be using the furniture in addition to the scratching post for attention.

That right your cat may be telling you “hey look at me I want some attention.”

If this is the case you need to find out what your cat is trying to tell you. It could mean play with me or pet me. Learning to communicate with your cat will go along way in correcting bad behavior.

Rules for Cat Agility

The runs are timed an scored. Keeping this in mind a slow run that is accurate will beat a faster run with faults.

The time starts when cat's front feet touch, pass through, or over first obstacle or breaking the plane of an obstacle. The time stops when cat's front feet touch the floor after clearing last obstacle.

A cat may take as many runs as they like with the best time kept.

The maxium time allowed to run a cours is 3 minutes.

Faults

Cat that engages wrong obstacle, out of course sequence.

The handler knocking down any obstacle or jump.

Can not stop more than 10 seconds once run is started.

No tension on leash during Agility-On-Leash run.

Inability to complete an obstacle. 2 tries are required and 2 faults if second try not attempted. If both tries are not completed it will count as 1 fault. Also going to the next obstacle before 2nd attempt, is also another fault.

Disqualifcations

Cannot assist performance by touching the cat ( kissing the cat is allowed however, no hands ).

If agility Official decides your commands are to harsh or your corrections towards cat is to harsh this will result in a dismissal from the tournament.

Unsportsmanlike conduct.

More than 3 minutes on a timed run.

Urinating or defecating int the agility ring.

Cat biting owner, handler, or anyone else. However playful nipping would not be consider biting.

Eligibility

Entry Fee ( if there is one ) must be paid before entering the course.

Must be 3 calender months old on day of competition. However kittens 4-8 months old may only do the Basic Level Course.

All cats are eligible, does not have to be a pure breed. Agility is not based on pedigree.

Owners must agree to sign in an waiver forms.

Deeper color shades desired, however intensity of ticking not to be sacrificed for depth of color. Darker shading along spine allowed if fully ticked. Preference given to cats UNMARKED on the undersides, chest, and legs; tail without rings. Facial Markings: dark lines extending from eyes and brows, cheekbone shading, dots and shading on whisker pads are all desirable enhancements. Eyes accentuated by fine dark line, encircled by light colored area. Eye color: gold or green, the more richness and depth of color the better.

Entry Info: All Entries must be submitted on an official CFA entry form printed or typed clearly and include FULL payment. Any entries without the above will be returned. Benching Info: This is a non-vetted show. All cats and kittens entered or present in the show hall should be inoculated against feline enteritis, feline rhinotracheitis, calici viruses, and rabies (required by Vermont state law - bring proof of vaccination) and tested negative for FeLV. All cats should be free from fleas, fungus, or other health problems. Any cat suspected of being ill, of having fleas, etc., is subject to removal from the show hall in accordance with CFA show rules. All claws must be clipped prior to benching. No cats/kittens to be left in show hall overnight. Sale kittens may not be housed in crates under cages during the show. All sale kittens must have required cage space according to CFA rules. No kitten under 4 months of age allowed in the show hall. Health & Rabies certificates required for sale cats/ kittens (within 10 days).

Entries: All Entries must be submitted on an official CFA entry form. Entries must be printed or typed clearly-entry clerk will call COLLECT for any clarifications. Payment MUST accompany entries, make Checks Payable to: Straight and Curl Cat Club. Late Fees: If you pay at the door FOR ANY REASON there will be a $5 Pay at the Door Fee added to the amount you owe at check-in (this fee will be waived for Canadian exhibitors), this includes no-shows. ANY payment not made within 30 days past the show date will incur a $50 Late Fee in addition any other applicable fees (e.g. bounced checks, etc.). If the Club has to send certified mail to make collections an additional $25 fee will be levied to all the above charges to cover certified postage.

Hours: Check-In is from 8:00-9:30am on Saturday morning. Cats not benched by 9:30 am will be marked absent. Judging will begin at 10am on Saturday and 9:30am on Sunday. Advertised show closing is 5pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sunday.

Show Hall: Our show hall is The Lebanon Valley Expo Center 80 Rocherty Road Lebanon, PA 17042. The show hall is heated and air conditioned and handicapped accessible.

Show Hotel: Quality Inn & Suites Lantern Lodge 411 North College St. Myerstown, PA 17067 Phone: 717-866-6536 the rate is $79 a nite (which includes a Hot/Served breakfast) plus $10 pet fee. Call te hotel and mention the cat show to get the rate, this rate is not available online. The hotel is 10 miles from the show hall (about 12-15 minute drive). Exhibitor Information: All Championship, Premiership and registered kittens whose numbers appear in the catalog will be scored for Regional and National awards. Registration numbers for all entries over 8 months of age must be printed in the catalog, per CFA Show Rules. All CFA Show rules will be strictly enforced. For a copy, send $5 to CFA, PO Box 1005 Manasquan, NJ 08735. This is a non vetted show. All cats present in the show hall are expected to be free of fleas, fungus and infectious diseases.
