Many vets and pet stores offer pill guns that will keep you away from your cat’s teeth.
Here is how to get a cat to swallow a pill:
Place the pill between your thumb and finger in one hand.
With your other hand hold your cat’s mouth open. An easy way to do this is to place your thumb and middle finger in the sides of the mouth, make sure to keep the palm of your hand resting under your cat’s jaws.
Quickly place the pill as far back in throat as you can.
Shut your cat’s mouth, keeping head tilted slightly back, messaging your cat’s throat will help him/her to swallow.
Have someone around to help you or if no one available try using the corner of a couch, this will help provide a natural barrier.
