Some basic tips on keeping your cat safe on Halloween.

Halloween is now upon us. Halloween may be a fun and exciting time for you and your family however, it can be very stressful time for your cat. Here are some tips for keeping your cat safe on Halloween.

Doorbells can be very stressful for your cat. During Halloween the door will be ringing much more than usual, this may upset your cat. Try and keep your cat away from this noise. Place your cat in a safe room along with its favorite bed and toy. This will help keep your cat from being upset with all the extra noise.

You and your family may enjoy costumes but they can be very scary to your cat. Keep in mind your cat may not want to share in checking out all the scary costumes. Again it might be better to place your cat in a safe and secure place.

Keep in mind the sounds of the season, scary soundtracks, people making noise, etc. This all can cause tremendous anxiety in your cat. Again your cat will enjoy a nice quiet place.

Pay special attention if you own a black cat. Since people are superstitious of black cats and might try to scare them off and possibly injuring them in the process.

Keep Halloween candy away and out of reach of your cat. Even the wrappers can be a dangerous choking hazard.

Be especially careful with jack-o-laterns. A burning candle may make your jack-o-latern look very appealing, however it can be very dangerous to your cat.

Make sure to keep your cat away from the door. This will prevent your cat from dashing outside.

We all love to decorate for the holidays but, keep in mind that these decorations should be kept out of reach from your cat. Decorations can be a major choking hazard.

When running lights keep in mind that electrical cords. Cords can be very dangerous. Keep cords out of your cats reach.

Make sure your cat has a collar and a name tag. Make sure the information is up to date.

With these few tips in mind you and your cat can have a safer Halloween.
